It was the first day of the month in September in the late evening that Paul William Kastner became absent from his body to be present with the Lord. Paul was born on November 28, 1945, in Rochester, NY to the late Paul Joseph and Virginia Ruth Kastner. At the young age of 3, he moved with his family to Texas claiming ever since that he got here as fast as he could. Always a thrill seeker, he enlisted in the Navy in 1963 where he traveled the world on the USS Independence. He worked as a jet mechanic / F4B plane captain attached to Fighter Squadron 41 and fought in the Vietnam War.
In 1968, while continuing his search for thrills, he met and married his first love, Clara Kohutek. To this love, they were blessed with 2 children: Paula Desiree and Jennifer Clarice (deceased). He later met and married his ultimate love, Susie Tipton along with her daughter Robyn, and in 1984 was blessed with their son, Kevin William Kastner.
Then, Paul’s new family settled in the Dallas/Fort Worth area where he would spend the rest of his days enjoying the life he had built! Having previously been a mechanic, he then moved into the tech industry programming little-known things called computers. At home he was a Jack of All Trades but admitted to being a master of none. A real fixer upper, if it was broken, he would fix it.
Paul was an honest man with strong moral principles, a man of full body and mind and integrity. He was bold enough to stand for something and didn’t mind sharing his thoughts with you. He had a sorted sense of humor and a mischievous laugh that was quite contagious. He was also very serious and didn't always like a lot of play and foolishness, but if you needed him, he was there. He loved to eat and try new types of food and restaurants. Some of his favorites were strawberry ice cream and Humperdinks. He had a green thumb and would grow vegetables, plants and flowers better than most florists. He also enjoyed going to museums, building model planes, and woodworking. He might be most remembered for his stories, an avid storyteller for sure. Although he didn't have a church home, he loved the Lord, had faith and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
Paul was the oldest of 4 children, sisters Mary Davis and Laura Tate (deceased), and brother Richard Kastner (deceased). He loved and was loved by all his siblings. He leaves behind his wife Susie Kastner, and children Paula Kastner Wilkes, Robyn Tipton Molyneaux, and Kevin Kastner. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Miranda and Kaitlyn Wilkes. Ty, Christian, and Abby Molyneaux. Ethan and Myles Kastner.
Please wear blue in honor of Paul.
A Memorial Service for Paul will be October 4th 2024 at Moore's Funeral Chapel. With the burial/inurnment to follow at The Dallas Fort Worth National cemetery.
