PAUL EDWARD PINKERTON - Born on June 24, 1938, in Clarksville, TX to Etta Lee and Lawrence Eursey. He went to be with his LORD and Savior on Aug. 1, 2021, in Arlington, TX at the age of 83 years old surrounded by his loved ones after a brief and unexpected illness.
He had been married to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Jo-Allyn Schirra, for 63 years. Together they had four beautiful daughters: Jo-Lynne “Abbie” Barr, Paulynne “Polly” Harlan, Regina Lynne “Regi” McGuire (Mark), and Carmella Frances Pinkerton. He also had 11 grandchildren, that made him very proud to be called “Papa:” Alexandra, Katie, Gary, Donnie, Anna, Nicholas, Hunter, Abigail, Paul, Susan, and Markie. His life was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. His family meant the world to him.
Paul lived a life full of love and laughter. He loved unconditionally and touched so many lives. He knew no stranger and made friends easily. He was also known, to some, as Poodle, Pinky, the Pink, and the Grey Fox. He lived a simple life and was a humble man. He had a caring, kind, and gentle spirit about him. He helped anybody and everybody. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He enjoyed family get togethers, friendships, fun, food, fellowship, and fine wines. He loved music and played the drums. He always had a trick up his sleeve or a riddle for you to solve and could make anyone smile or laugh. He lit up any room he entered with his smile. He was a child of GOD and attended St. Mark’s Anglican Church for the past 50 years.
Paul served our country faithfully. He had a varied military career, serving in the Air National Guard, Air Force, Army Reserves, and US Navy. He served in the Korean, Cuban Crisis, and Vietnam wars. He was medically discharged from the Navy after a heart attack in 1986 and, therefore, retired early.
He attended the University of Texas at Arlington, receiving his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies at age 52.
He worked a variety of other jobs during his lifetime including a service manager and mechanic in the automotive departments at K-Mart and Treasure City, a social worker at Texas Masonic Retirement Center, a Navy recruiter, and even a security guard for the Pinkerton Security Agency.
