

Peggy Ann Johnson (73) passed away on October 9th at her home in Mansfield. Peggy was born into a musical and God loving family in Rogers, TX on February 18, 1942 to Owen and Edna Stracener and spent her childhood singing in choirs and harmonizing beautifully with her beloved sister June. Peggy graduated from Mesquite High School and worked as a secretary at Wildwood Baptist Church. Her first marriage gave her two wonderful sons, Andrew and Kelly, and she soon began work as a secretary at LTV in Grand Prairie. There she met Roy Johnson, who had 4 children of his own, and the two married on October 10, 1969 settling permanently in Arlington. The two families became one and their son Matthew was born in 1971. Peggy and Roy spent nearly 40 happy years together until his death in 2008. Peggy was a cherished member of University Baptist Church in Arlington, serving as a choir soloist, Women On Missions leader, Director of Vacation Bible School, and six-decade Sunday School teacher. She is survived by her sister June Knight, her half-brother David Huff, her children Andrew Saltsman and family Chi, Trevor and Mia, Kelly Saltsman, and Matt Johnson, her stepchildren Cathy Erickson and family Gary, Christi, Kim and Jason, Carol Sue Imboden and family Dougie, Stacey and Beau, Debbie Trull and family Art and Courtney, and Ricky Johnson and family Amy and Roy Jr, as well as a dozen great-grandchildren and many more family members who will miss her dearly.
Services will be held at University Baptist Church in Arlington on Thursday, October 15 at 2:00pm, with a graveside to follow at Moore Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation Wednesday, October 14, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Moore Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Saltsman, Kelly Saltsman, Matt Johnson, Trevor Saltsman, Randy Knight, Cole Knight, Scott Johnson, and Art Trull.
