

Phil Hayward , 73, of Arlington, TX passed away on December 11, 2012 with his wife Judy, children Jennifer (Hayden), Molly (Barr), Ralph, and son-in-law Joe Hayden by his side. He is also survived by his son John and wife Jennifer of Akron, OH, son-in-law Rob Barr, sister Kitty Needels and her husband Warren, and grandchildren Nicholas, Olivia, Charlotte, Jack, Joey, Will, Samantha ,Ruthie, and Daniel. Born in Kansas City, MO, Phil worked in the retail industry managing stores for Montgomery Wards. He and his wife, Judy, started and operated a specialty candy store chain in Dallas called Darveaux Confectionnaire for 20 years. He was a member of the Tarrant County Appraisal Review Board for several years until his health limited his active participation. He was a passionate reader of military history, a zealot for his grandchildren, and a verbose contributor to the Tuesday morning breakfast club at the Skillet and Grill Restaurant in Arlington where he claimed the world's problems were solved on a weekly basis. He fought the good fight against a terrible disease over the last 5 years, Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) where the bone marrow does not produce enough healthy blood cells. Services will be held at the Moore Funeral Home located at 1219 N Davis Dr, Arlington, TX 76012 on Wednesday, December 19th at 12:30 p.m. with burial following at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
