

Phyllis Yvonne Duhamell, a longtime resident of the Mansfield area, passed away peacefully at her home on March 10, 2017. She was born in Sapulpa, OK on December 17, 1942 to James and Florine West. Phyllis spent her early childhood in Oklahoma and Texas. She spent much of her adolescence and teen years living abroad, as her father pursued a career in the oil industry. She lived with her parents in many countries, including Venezuela, Cuba, Libya and Saudi Arabia. They also enjoyed extended travel throughout Europe. After graduating high school abroad, Phyllis returned to the United States to attend the University of Arizona. While at the university, she met the love of her life, Jim Duhamell. Jim and Phyllis were married in 1964. Jim and Phyllis, along with their son, Kurt, lived in Tucson, AZ, Hollywood, FL and ultimately settled in Arlington, TX. Phyllis was a homemaker at heart and devoted her life to her family. She also worked part time in the fashion and cosmetics industries. Phyllis loved playing bridge with friends, caring for her pets, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed shopping, listening to music, and trips to the theatre. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Jim in 2014 after 49 years of marriage.
She is survived by her son Kurt (Lisa) Duhamell, granddaughter Brittany (Joey) Jeffery, grandson Zachary (Tessa Pierce) Duhamell, and great-grandson Seth Jeffery, all of whom live in TX and brought joy to Phyllis in her later years. She also leaves behind Charlotte, her favorite cousin, and several other cousins, aunts and uncles.
