

Ray was born September 9, 1923 in Idalou, Texas and grew up in Altus, Oklahoma where he graduated in 1942 and attended Junior College.
Ray worked for the War Department in Wichita, Kansas. Before he was drafted, he married his next-door sweetheart Joyce Davis October 23, 1943. Ray finished his service in the Occupation Forces in Japan when the war ended.
In 1948, Humphries began his long time career as a mail clerk and retired as the Distribution and Routing Officer of the Dallas Transportation Management Office of the US Postal Service January 11, 1980. Hired in 1980 as Manager, Ray worked for the PTS Federal Credit Union until his retirement in 1991. He served many years on committees and on the Board of Directors. Ray and wife Joyce were members of Handley Methodist Church, and enthusiastic supporters of the Humane Society.
Ray Humphries is survived by his only son Daryl Humphries of Arlington, Texas. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce Humphries and by two sisters, Cora and Myrtle, and brother Leonard.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday, May 8, 2015, 2pm at Moore Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1219 N. Davis Dr., Arlington, Texas 76012. Those wishing to honor Ray with a charitable contribution in lieu of flowers are invited to make a donation to The American Humane Society in his name.
