Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Moore Funeral Home Chapel, 1219 N. Davis Drive, in Arlington. A private interment will follow at Moore Memorial Gardens.
He was born Raymond William Hammitt on December 15, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York, a son of William Hammitt and Martha Frantz Hammitt. Raymond served in the United States Army during WWII. He married Jeanne O. Hammitt on September 18, 1942 in Highland Park, Michigan. Raymond worked in Quality Assurance for the United States Government. His favorite hobby was to play on the Ham Radio. Most of all, Raymond loved his family and will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Hammitt; his wife, Jeanne Hammitt; and son, Tom Hammitt.
Raymond is survived by one daughter, Susan Hammitt of Arlington; daughter in law, Jane Hammitt of Austin; grandson, Todd Hammitt; and brother, Ed Hammitt of Ohio.
