Refugia Vera Tijerina, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Jane L West Hospice. She was born April 23rd, 1926, in Cuero, TX to Herlinda Garza and Refugio Vera.
She met and married the late Cipriano Tijerina and they raised four children together. She was a devoted wife until his passing. Refugia had a strong love and faith for our Heavenly Father and was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Mansfield. She provided unconditional love to her children and all her grandchildren which grew stronger as each year passed. She loved praying and reading her prayer books, the last four ½ years she enjoyed needlework and visiting with family and friends. Refugia had a profound impact on her children and grandchildren leaving an awesome legacy in her name.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Refugia is survived by her brother Jesus Lozada; and sisters-in-law Eduviges Tijerina, Ellena Vera, Genoveva Vera and Julia Lozada; daughters, Alicia Tijerina and Lydia Sustatia; sons, Ricardo (Graciela) Tijerina and Juan (Mayra) Tijerina; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
On Sunday Octboer 21st, there will be a visitation from 4-6pm at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, 7301 Lancaster, Fort Worth, TX 76112, with the Rosary recited at 5pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 22, at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5819 W. Pleasant Ridge, Arlington TX 76016. Committal services will follow at Moore Memorial Gardens at 1219 N. Davis Dr., Arlington, TX 76012.
