

Richard Allen Whitenight, age 77, passed away on September 2, 2025, in Arlington, TX. He was born on June 10, 1948, in Milford, CT to George Ruch Whitenight Sr. and Juanita Marie Ferris Whitenight. Richard was raised in Arlington, TX where he attended Westside Elementary, Ousley Jr. High, and graduated from Arlington High School in 1966.
Richard served as a YN2 in the Navy from September 26, 1967, to October 22, 1970, and then followed in the Naval Reserve from May 7, 1976, to May 6, 1980. He retired from the City of Arlington Police Department, helping write up reports where he worked for many years.
In his spare time, Richard enjoyed singing in his early adulthood, he was a big man with a beautiful tenor voice. Later in life he became a train spotter/ videographer and had a whole group of friends who had this hobby. He loved being with friends and family and sharing dinner with his nieces at his parent’s home for Thursday family dinners.
Richard is preceded in death by his Parents, George Whitenight Sr. and Juanita Whitenight.
He is survived by his brother, George Ruch Whitenight Jr., Sister, Judy Whitenight Northup, Nephew, Patrick Whitenight and Nieces, Georgian Whitenight, Laura Brennan and Lesley Norris.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 N. Davis Drive Arlington, TX 76012. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM First Presbyterian Church, 1200 S. Collins Street Arlington, TX 76010 in the sanctuary.
