Rita Smith was born Rita Morris in Abilene, Texas February 15th, 1945, to Dr. Martin Morris and Charlene Morris RN. They moved to Rhode Island where she lived until she was a teenager. Dr. Morris then started a Practice with his wife in Arlington, Texas in the early 60’s. Rita was a devoted wife and mother. She was known for her delightful sense of humor and her sharp wit. She was active in her Parish at Most Blessed Sacrament and held strong convictions that were part of her Catholic Faith. Rita was never afraid to share her views of the world and the Nation she loved with anyone. Rita always loved her children and their friends, who she often provided food and shelter without request.
She cared deeply for her husband Jon and took care of him through his three separate battles with cancer. Rita’s strong will and big heart will remain an inspiration to her children, grandchildren, and all those that were blessed to know her. Rita Smith will be dearly missed.
