Robert John Bates Jr., of Fort Worth, founder and president of R.J. Bates & Associates, passed Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at the age of 56. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington. Survivors: Wife, Donna Kay Bates; son, R.J. Bates III of Fort Worth; stepdaughter, Shawna Nimocks, her husband and children of Fairfax, Va.; mother, Charlotte Bates of Avinger; sister, Debbie Styne of Mansfield; brother, James Bates and wife of Avinger; and Jana Stallings of Fort Worth.

Charlotte, I found the obituary to "Johnny" while searching online for family. Not only was he my cousin but also one of my first childhood friends. I am deeply saddened to read that he has passed away but I rejoice in knowing the strong faith you have in Christ and the hope that we all share in the promise of eternity together with Him. My prayers and thoughts are with you and the family, and in the spirit and truth of Romans 8:28, I'm thankful to have found you again.
