SSG Robert Edward Thomas Jr.

Robert E. Thomas Jr., 24, of El Paso TX, passed away September 13, 2013. Robert was born November 4, 1988, to Bob Thomas and Jennifer McLean in San Bernardino, CA. Robert graduated from Etiwanda High School. He married Kristina Thomas (Hammond) on August 3, 2009. Robert's career in the US Army began after High School graduation in 2006. Robert was very dedicated and driven in his professional life. During his career he deployed 3 times, once to Iraq (2007-2008) and twice to Afghanistan (2010-2011, 2012-2013). He advanced quickly and within 6 years became a Staff Sargent (E6) in the Army. Robert loved spending time with family & friends. He enjoyed all outdoor activities. Some of his favorites were playing golf, basketball and watching his favorite football team-Green Bay Packers! Robert was very funny and always knew how to put a smile on someone's face and make them laugh! Robert was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and friend who leaves behind a loving family so very grateful for his love and support. He will be deeply missed by all, and will remain in our hearts forever.

Robert was preceded in death by his Grand Father, Joe Valdez and Grand Mother, Alice Thomas. Survivors include his wife, Kristina Thomas; daughter, Hailey Thomas; sisters, Jessica Thompson, Kimberly Thomas, Rebekah McLean, Karissa McLean, Kristian Thomas, Keri Thomas, Kallista Thomas; brother Joseph Thomas; grandmother Patty Valdez; and grandfather William Thomas.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M., September 27, 2013, at Lamar Baptist Church, 1000 W. Lamar Blvd., Arlington, followed by the procession to the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
