Rose was born on May 24, 1936, in San Angelo, Texas, to Lester Hammack and Mary Parker. She spoke fondly of her school years in San Angelo, where she attended Fort Concho School, and those formative years left a lasting impression on the woman she would become — curious, independent, and deeply rooted in the people and places she loved.
In 1954, Rose married the love of her life, John Wesley Rogers, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The two had met in San Angelo, marrying young — she at 18, he at 20 — and beginning a life together that would be defined by family, faith, and devotion. Wesley’s passing at the youthful age of 57 impacted her and the family in many ways through the years to come.
Rose carried on with the quiet strength that those who knew her would expect.
She will be remembered as a loving sister, mother, grandmother, spouse, and devoted friend. Rose cherished nothing more than time with her grandsons — taking them to nature school in the summers, attending their sporting events, and pouring into their adult lives with the same warmth and intention she gave to others.
Rose was a lifetime learner. She had a deep love of books, and could often be found browsing the Arlington Public Library or hunting for her next great find at Half Price Books. She had a keen eye for beauty and creativity — whether it was discovering a treasure at a local consignment store, furniture shopping, tending to her garden full of beloved Texas perennials, or introducing her family to the works of art at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth. She was an independent thinker who spoke thoughtfully about the role of women across generations, and her perspective was as valued as it was memorable.
Rose is survived by her three sons, Kyle, Craig, and Keith; her grandsons Dylan and Davis; her great-grandson Ries; and her daughter-in-law Marlene. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Rogers; her sisters, Wilma Rhodes and Darnell Morris; and her brother, Lynn Hammack.
A visitation will be held from 10:00–11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas, followed by a graveside memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Mission Arlington.
