Madam Rosina Ago Offei was born on August 1st 1956 as Rosina Ago Akyeah in Susuanso in the Brong-Ahafo region of Ghana, to the late Emmanuel Akyeah Kwayisi and Akosua Ofumaa (NKora). Rosina was later raised by her step-mother Rosa Sakyibea Akyeah in Sunyani to become a good Christian lady. She was baptized in the Presbyterian church of Ghana and grew up with her two sisters under the care of their mother and father.
Rosina attained her basic education at the Anglican Primary school. Later, she attended Anglican Middle School in Sunyani and then went to Wenchi Secondary School. Later, she stayed with her auntie Georgina Osei-Ansah whilst in Accra. She also enrolled at the Kings Secretarial Business school and shortly after decided to become a Nurse. In October 1980, she enrolled at the Community Health Nurses Training College in Tamale in the Northern Region of Ghana for two years. On September 6th 1983, she was awarded the Community Health Nursing Certificate by the Nurses and Midwives Council of Ghana.
In 1982, she was posted to Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana to work as a Community Health Nurse at The Maternal and Child Health Centre (MCH). It was during this time that she met her lovely husband, Mr. Samuel Stephen Offei, who was a tutor at the then Ghana Secondary School. In 1987, she came to work at the MCH Clinic in Mampong Akwapim.
During her wonderful marriage, God blessed them with a son, Emmanuel Kwasi Offei. Madam Rosina also worked at Kom Clinic and at Adonten Senior High School in Aburi Akwapim in the Eastern Region. She worked there from 1987-1989 as a school nurse when her husband was a tutor at Aburi Girls Senior High School. In later years, she and her family relocated to Akropong Akwapim because her husband was transferred to teach at Okuapemman Senior High School. There, she worked as the school nurse for the School for the Blind from 1989-1995.
In the late 90’s, the Offei family relocated to the United States of America. In the U.S., she worked in the nursing field for over 22 years at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital. Due to her social and outgoing charisma, she became involved in the Okuapemman Association in Arlington. With time, she became the event planner for family gatherings and special events in the Dallas-Fort Worth Ghanaian Community, in particular the Odwira festivals.
In May 2020, she felt sick and shortly after, on July 29th, 2020, God finally called her home, at Methodist Hospital in Mansfield, Texas. She left our world just four days after witnessing her son’s marriage.
Rosina will always be remembered by her colleagues and family members as a sincere and generous person. She touched many lives. She leaves behind her husband Mr. Samuel Stephen Offei, son Mr. Emmanuel Kwasi Offei, daughter in-law Scholastica Nana Adwoa Offei, sisters Mrs. Ellen Owusu Mantey, Mrs. Georgina Oye Agyemang, Madam Stella Akyea Kwayisi; brothers Mr. Lawrence Asamoah Kwayisi, Mr. Asare Akyea Kwayisi, and Mr. Offei Yaw Akyeah. She also leaves behind many cousins, nephews, and nieces too numerous to count.
We shall miss you always, but we console ourselves because we know that you are in a better place where there is no more sickness, suffering, or pain. Blessed are those who die in the Lord. “For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him” – 1 Thessalonians 4:14.
Therefore, we comfort one another with these words: The Lord Almighty keep you in his bosom till we all meet again. Rosina Ago Offei, Nantew yie. Amen.
