Roy was born in Coolidge in 1924 to Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Wood Sr. He graduated from Coolidge High School and attended Westminister College and Texas A&M. Roy met Helen, the love of his life, at work at the Magnolia Oil Refinery in Beaumont and they married in 1947. After moving to Arlington in 1955, he and Helen raised four children and adored 10 grandchildren.
He was a 55-year member of First United Methodist Church of Arlington. A natural born salesman, Roy had a 40-year career with McCormick and Company. Upon retirement he became an independent food broker. His zest for life and his work were only surpassed by his love for family and church. All who knew Roy delighted in his engaging smile and his tenacious ability to keep living life to the fullest even as his health failed. Our memories are sweet.
Roy was preceded in death by Helen, his beloved wife of 63 years; his parents; and his grandson, Justin Hughes.
