Ruth Ann Patrick, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, born May 27, 1945, passed away on March 11, 2026, surrounded by her husband and sons at her home of over 50 years in Arlington, Texas.
Ann was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Russell Frederick and Ruth Marie Spruce Roper and was known for her love of God, deep kindness toward others, and amazing baking, embroidery, and knitting skills. Ann was a founding member of Annaville Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, where she and her husband, Earl, were married on May 22, 1971. She graduated from the University of Corpus Christi (now Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi) and was certified to teach English and History. She also received a Master of Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. She taught public school in Corpus Christi and served as a youth minister at several churches, including First Baptist Church in Alice, Texas, before moving with her husband to Arlington, Texas. In Arlington, she taught for many years as a substitute teacher and also taught night classes for those seeking to earn their GED. She served as chairman of the Nursery Committee at Northside Baptist Church in Arlington, her church home for many years. She ended her career as the bookkeeper at her neighborhood grocery store.
Until a life-changing stroke seven years ago, Ann was always taking someone to a doctor’s appointment or making sure they had a ride to church. She knitted beautiful baby blankets for friends and family far and wide, and at Christmastime made jars and jars of delicious chocolate-covered cherries. Her granddaughter and nieces now make them for family members every year, keeping her tradition alive.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Ruth Roper, and her siblings Darlene Richardson, Russell Roper, Harriett Pope, Sue Ahrens, and Joe Roper. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, and we know they welcomed her to heaven with joy.
Ann is survived by her husband of 54 years, Earl Patrick; her children Patran (D’Laine) Patrick and Eric (Sarah) Patrick; and her grandchildren Amethyst (Luke) Asper, Aidan Patrick, Mackenzie Patrick, Darbi Patrick, Kyle Patrick, Liam Patrick, Makayla Patrick, and Kelci Patrick. She is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
A short graveside commitment service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, at Moore Memorial Gardens on North Davis Drive in Arlington, Texas.
There will also be a memorial luncheon on April 18 at 12:00 p.m. at Annaville Baptist Church in Corpus Christi.
