Helen Ruth Puckett, born July 19, 1927, entered God’s loving arms Saturday, June 23, 2018. She was 90 years young. “Ruthie” as she was known to all, moved to Arlington, Texas with her family from South Bend, Indiana in 1954, when her husband was employed at the new General Motors plant.
Ruthie worked at Arlington State College, which later became known as UT Arlington, for 28 years in the College of Business.
She was a Christian and loved the Lord. They attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church and were members of the Elks Lodge.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Forrest Puckett; her daughter, Janice Truver; an infant son; and her sister Betty Mroczkiewicz.
She leaves behind her brother, Robert Butts; sister, Barbara Armour; daughter, Gayle Alcorn and her husband Randy Alcorn. She also leaves to cherish her grandkids, Warren Truver and wife Carrie, Kristian Long, Danny Truver and Melissa Ray; Great grandkids, Korinne Weatherford, Taylor Ray, Connor Ray, Gavin Ray, Payton Ray and Rylie Truver. Ruthie will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends near and in Indiana.
In her own words, Ruthie left a note dated 1995:
“My love and compassion for people, my sense of humor and the joy in laughing was a blessing from God. My greatest achievements are my daughters Gayle & Janice, my grandchildren and my great grandchildren.”
