

Mass of Christian Burial: 11 am Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5819 W Pleasant Ridge Rd, Arlington, TX, 76016. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, with Holy Rosary at 7 pm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dulces and Vicenta Carrasco and brother Victor Carrasco.
Salvador was born on June 28, 1936 in Saragosa, TX. He was well known to the town, as his family owned a popular country store. Early in life, as children, Salvador met the love of his life, Ernestina C. Carrasco, whom he later married in 1959.
He graduated from Balmorhea High School, Reeves County, TX, in 1956. He soon found a job in Arlington, TX. He worked as a painter, and 7 years later, in 1966, he began working at Martin Sprocket and Gear in Arlington as a machinist. He retired 42 years later.
He loved hunting, fishing, Nascar, and most of all spending time with his family, especially for outings to Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys games.
Upon his arrival in Arlington, he attended regular Mass at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, until size of population created St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He was there with his family from the beginning until his death. He served as an usher at the 9am Mass. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Council 6269.
He always had a smile for everyone!
He was extremely loved by his family and he supported everything they did. Beamed with pride to speak of his grandchildren.
He supported and was a member of the National Rifle Association; attended and participated in many shooting events, and was also a member of the Texas Rifle Association.
Salvador, during his teen years, obtained many motorcycles, such as Indian and Harley Davidson and enjoyed many trips from Saragosa to Fort Davis area with his beloved companion, later to be his wife, Ernestina.
Salvador celebrated life! He lived Christlike. His greatest legacy is how he practiced his faith with his family, taught good old fashioned morals and encouraged his family to continue their Christlike journey. What a beautiful gift for anyone to leave!
Survivors: those left to honor his memory are Ernestina C. Carrasco, wife and love of his life; Sandra K. Mantooth, daughter; James S. Carrasco, son; Robert D. Mantooth, son-in-law; Amy Carrasco, daughter-in-law; Alex B. Carrasco, grandson; James A. Robinson, grandson; Ava Carrasco, granddaughter; and many other loving family and friends.
