His father, K. C. Jackson, mother Thelma Linda Ginn Jackson, and sister Kathy J. Jackson Culp preceded him in death. Steven had no children.
Steven grew up in Downey, California. He attended Downey Public Schools and graduated from Warren High School in 1973. He went on to attend what was then known as Cerritos Junior College. He graduated with two associates degrees, those being accounting and computer programming.
After graduation one of the places he worked was the E. C. Young Company. They were a large supplier of soy lecithin used in the food industry.
Steven's father K. C. Jackson passed away in 1972. In 1977, Steven, his mother, and sister moved to Fort Worth. This made them closer to both of his parents extended family.
Their Fort Worth home was to be the first in a new area in Saginaw, TX. It's completion was delayed by the crazy Texas weather, it snowed every Wednesday in February 1978.
After talking with his cousin Larry and fishing buddy Terry, Steve decided he wanted in on the housing boom in DFW by driving a dump truck. He stopped after an accident where he was thrown from the cab of the truck. He then found a job with Carl Williams Sand and Gravel dispatching trucks.
After getting tired of the Texas heat, Steven changed jobs to a security company dispatcher in 1981. Here he met Joann Who would become his wife. They were married on Saturday, October 16, 1982. Exactly one year after their first date. They almost made it to their 44th wedding anniversary.
Steve's last job was that of a specialized accounts payable clerk. He paid truckers to move containers from point A to point B. He drew on both his accounting and truck driving experience for this job. When he started at the company, it was Hyundai Intermodal. Over the 22 years he worked there, the company changed hands a few times. When Steven was laid off, it was known as Lottie Logistics.
During his 6 years of retirement, Steven dealt with his medical problems that had started years before. Diabetes, chronic back pain, and then cancer brought him to the end.
