Susan Irene Spindor Ward, 75, of Arlington, met her Lord, Jesus Christ, face to face on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. She was born January 21, 1947, in Stephenville, Texas, to John and Elwanda Spindor. Susan graduated from Tarleton State College in January 1969 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. While at Tarleton, Susan met and married David Ward on May 27, 1967, and they remained happily married until her death almost 55 years later.
She was a loving wife & mother, doting Grandma, and genuinely cared for everyone she encountered in her life. She taught math to high school students in Duncanville, retiring in 2002. Susan is best known for helping students struggling with math to understand, and even excel with her instruction. Susan’s vibrant personality and warm, welcoming spirit put even the most anxious of people at ease, and encouraged learning in her presence. She tutored students of many ages in mathematics.
Susan has been a member of Pleasantview Baptist Church, in Arlington, for the past 25 years. She had a passion for the Lord Jesus, and an eagerness to share His love with others through her words, actions, and strong Christian character.
She loved sewing and making clothing, as well as crochet. She made many wedding dresses, including her own, her daughter’s, and daughter-in-law’s as well as those of other family members and friends.
Susan was most passionate about her family. She is preceded in death by her infant son Robert Milton Ward, her father, John Spindor, Sr., mother- and father-in-law Emory and Lorine Ward, and brother-in-law Benny Cheek. She is survived by her husband David Milton Ward, daughter Angela Cameron and husband Richard, son Andrew Ward and wife Kim, grandchildren Rebecca & Austin Cameron, and extra grandchildren Nate & Ian Watters, mother, Elwanda Spindor, brother John Spindor, Jr. and wife Selena, sister-in-law Berta McMurry and husband Harvey, sister-in-law Zuma Cheek, brother-in-law Gerry Ward and wife Brenda and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 6 from 7–9 pm at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis, Arlington.
Celebration of Life will be Thursday, April 7, 10:00 am, at Pleasantview Baptist Church, 4400 Pleasantview Dr., Arlington. Interment will follow at Morgan Mill Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
