
Sybil Lucille Daugherty, 89, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. She was born in Rye Cove, Virginia on November 25, 1925, daughter of Flora and George Frazier. She married Herbert Daugherty of Kingsport, Tennessee in 1949. They had two children, Edith and Lavona. Sybil was a military wife, and her husband’s career in the Air Force included bases in Florida, Texas, California, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, Delaware, and England. Sybil and Herbert returned to Fort Worth upon his retirement from the Air Force. Sybil pursued a very satisfying position with Electronic Data Systems, where she was an analyst. Upon retiring from EDS, Sybil was active as a community volunteer and enjoyed working with the Red Cross at Carswell Air Force Base, and with the Euless Public Library’s Book Cottage. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Euless.
Our Mother had two great loves in her life, her husband Herbert Daugherty, who preceded her in death in 1988, and her dear friend and companion of fourteen years, Herbert Herndon, who passed away in 2008. Survivors: Daughter Edith Collins and husband Kenneth Collins, of Fairfax, Virginia; grandson Christopher Collins and great-grandchildren Abigail and Elizabeth Collins of Manassas, Virginia; daughter Lavona Faye Lovvorn and husband James Lovvorn of Langley, Washington, grandson Andrew Lovvorn of Bothell,Washington.
Sybil will be buried alongside her husband in Rogersville, Tennessee.
