Thelma Mae Whittenberg

Thelma Mae Whittenberg, age 89 passed away peacefully December 20, 2020 due to complications from a stroke. She was born June 11, 1931 in Copperas Cove, Texas to Hairm and Elnora Buchanan. She married the love of her life, Marvin Whittenberg in1950 who preceded her in death in 1985.

Thelma is survived by her brothers Leland Buchanan, Joe Buchanan, Sam Buchanan and wife Tanya Buchanan; her and Marvin’s four daughters and their families: Daughter Kathy Tarpley Gilley and husband Garey Gilley, grandsons Bill Tarpley and Troy Tarpley and wife Mallary Tarpley, great grandchildren Madelyn Tarpley and Tucker Tarpley; Daughter Nancy McNiel and husband Steve McNiel, grandchildren Kevin McNiel and Tracy Nicholson, great grandchildren Colin Nicholson, Chandler McNiel and Paige McNiel; granddaughter Nora McNiel Garcia and husband Domingo Garcia, great grandchildren, Alex Lee, Addison Lee, Noah Garcia, Nathaniel Garcia, Leah Garcia and Hannah Garcia, grandson Patrick McNiel, granddaughter Tamara McNiel and great grandchildren Cadence Smith and Caitlyn Smith; Daughter Trish Boyd and granddaughter Brystal Boyd McKee and husband Christopher McKee and great grandsons Liam Michael McKee and Bryson Boyd McKee and Daughter Mary Whittenberg along with many nephews and nieces all of whom she loved and touched deeply. She was also preceded in death by her sister Virginia Merle Sherry, brother-in-law Morris Sherry, sister-in-law Arlee Buchanan, sister-in-law Dena Buchanan, brother-in-law Paul Whittenberg, sister-in-law Audrey Jo Whittenberg, son-in-law Bill Tarpley and son-in-law Michael Boyd.

Until her health condition made it impossible, Thelma loved traveling near and far with family and cheering on her beloved Dallas Stars.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 27th at 1:00pm at Moore Funeral Home and Remembrance Gardens, 1219 N Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012, and also will be available via livestream
