

He was born in Jackson, Mississippi on October 22, 1928. Thomas graduated from Officer Candidate School in June 1950 as a second lieutenant at the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. During his years in the Air Force, he met and married Helen Wisniewski on June 12, 1951. After getting out of the Air Force, Thomas went to the University of Texas and received a degree in electrical engineering in 1958.
With his degree, he landed a job at Chance-Vought Aircraft Co.where he stayed until he retired from LTV in 1990 after 32 years of service.
Thomas was a civil leader in many ways. He was an active member of the Optimist Club where he coached football and baseball teams and acted as the president. His passion was golf so he joined the Arlington Senior Men's Golf Association and eventually became its president. Square dancing was another favorite activity in which he and his wife swayed with the Circle 8 Square Dance Club for 30 years.
Thomas's greatest source of pride was his successful children and the loving grandchildren. He was survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen. His children are Thomas Chick with spouse Regue, Carol Haar with spouse Steve, Stephanie Racine with spouse Robert and Linda Peters with spouse Brian. He has 6 grandchildren, Jennifer Racine, Nicole Herring, Aaron Peters, Amanda Peters, Miranda Peters and Hal Peters. He was survived by one brother, Wayne Chick.
A memorial service will be held on Friday morning at 10 am at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington. A reception following the memorial is slated for Rolling Hills Country Club at 11am.
