Timothy Corey Lewis, the second son of Timothy Schooley and Mildred Wheeler Schooley, was born April 5, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pa. His parents divorced soon thereafter, and in 1932 his mother married again, to George Lewis, who died of pneumonia in 1937, shortly after the birth of a son, George.
While a student at Allegheny High School, Tim worked part time, making ice cream sodas at a local drugstore, delivering ice and selling newspapers on street corners to help the family through the Great Depression. At 17, he volunteered for service with the U.S. Army. Assigned to the Army's 752th Tank Battalion, attached to the 88th Infantry Division, he battled insurgents in the Italian Alps. While on leave, he fell in love with the daughter of a prominent Venetian businessman, but his plans to marry were dashed when the Army denied his request to stay in Italy.
Mr. Lewis returned to Pittsburgh, where he met Lois Jean Canty at a dance. In 1949, they married, and in 1950, a daughter, Linda, was born. The family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1954, where Mr. Lewis began a position as office manager for the Singer Sewing Machine Company.
Not long after the birth of a son, Brian, in 1959, Mr. Lewis took an executive position with Frisch's Restaurants. Several years later, he became an auditor with Baldwin-United Corporation, which led to a 1969 transfer to St. Petersburg, Fla. In 1971, the firm transferred him again, to Dallas. For the last few years of his career, Mr. Lewis worked for a credit reporting firm, before retiring in approximately 1999.
Mr. Lewis was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, and generously volunteered his time for charitable causes. He enjoyed reading and outdoor sports, including fishing, hiking and horseback riding, which he shared with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Lewis' marriage to Lois Canty ended in divorce.
Survivors: Children, Brian Lewis of Arlington and Linda Lewis of Hagerstown, Md.; brother, James Lewis of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and three grandsons.
Arrangements under the direction of Moore Funeral Home, Arlington, TX.
