The pride and joy of her late parents, Thomas Daniel Powers and Vivian Louise Hand Powers, Tommie Sue danced her way into the hearts of everyone she met. She grew up in Arlington, where she graduated from Arlington High School. A real beauty, she competed in and won several beauty and talent pageants and even opened one of the first ice skating rinks in the area with an ice dancing routine when she was barely old enough to walk. Tommie Sue's dancing and acting abilities had her performing all over the state of Texas and led her to study acting while attending Texas State College in Arlington, where she met the love of her life, John Robert "Bob" Dickson. She and Bob began a long marriage and partnership in September 1964. They were blessed with three children, Elizabeth Ann, John "Bob" Robert Jr. and Vivian Larea. Although Tommie Sue had many opportunities to pursue her dancing and acting, it was her family that captivated her the most. She spent the majority of her life nurturing her children and teaching to others. After raising her three children, Tommie Sue founded TSD Distributing, a produce distribution company. She served the Dallas Independent School District for over 10 years. Her integrity and genuine love of people endeared her to all who had the good fortune to work with her. Tommie Sue's love of family was enriched with the addition of her four grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them and wanted to be part of all their interests and activities.
Tommie Sue will be dearly missed by many, but we know that the strong faith and religious beliefs that guided her throughout her life will carry her to salvation and the beautiful place we call heaven.
