Tommy “Tom” Wilson passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2026, at the age of 68. Born in Brownfield, Texas, to Rita and R.T. Wilson, Tom’s life was defined by a servant’s heart, a gift for problem-solving, a love of storytelling, and genuine commitment to the people around him.
An honor graduate of Weatherford High School’s Class of 1976, Tom enjoyed theater and excelled in mathematics. Tom loved scouting alongside his father and proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout, laying the foundation for a lifetime of service. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Dallas Baptist University in 1998.
On July 9, 1988, Tom married the love of his life, Mary. They built a joy-filled life grounded in faith and family. After time in Joshua, they settled in Grand Prairie, raised their daughters, and welcomed countless friends, neighbors, scouts, students, and church members into their lives.
Tom didn’t just attend—he participated. He was a Girl Scout leader, lifeguard, soccer dad, dance dad, youth leader, church volunteer, and an enthusiastic supporter of anything his daughters pursued. If help was needed, Tom was there.
For more than 35 years, Tom worked as a Test Technician for Vought Aircraft, taking particular pride in his work on the B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber.
Tom wore his nerdiness as a badge of honor. Whether exploring a galaxy far, far away, boldly going where no one had gone before, journeying through Middle-earth, or returning to Hogwarts, he found meaning and connection in the stories he loved. His daughters especially treasure memories of him reading aloud—sparking their imagination, curiosity, and love of learning.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Rita Elliott and R.T. Wilson, and his beloved wife, Mary Wilson. He is survived by his sisters, Tracy Wilson and Christie Wilson; his daughters, Rebecca, Sarah, and Darla Wilson; and his cherished granddogs, Beast, Chico, Zoey, and Cubone.
Known for his quick wit, sharp humor, and endless sarcasm, Tom leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family.
If Tom were here, he’d likely say not to get too sentimental—and to make sure there’s good food at the gathering, but those who knew him best know that a life so full and well-lived deserves to be celebrated.
In that spirit, a Remembrance will be held on June 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Spring Creek Barbeque. Guests are welcome to come and go as they are able… bring your best hugs and memories.
Address: 3514 W. Airport Freeway, Irving, Texas 75062
