Vikunt “Vic” Roop Chand was born the only son of Harry and Chandrowtie (Lily Chand) on September 24, 1972 in Lenora Cottage Hospital (Guyana). Proving his will to live, Vikunt survived childhood meningitis at 8 months old. He grew up with the help of his nanny and cousin Anjali Singh (whom he lovingly called “Pip”) honing his sense of humor and prankster nature with her over the years. At the age of 5 he took a keen interest in engines and cars, a passion that remained with him through the remainder of his life. His first job was as a heavy duty mechanic for GuyTrac (with the Guyanese Government) at the age of 18. He was also known as “Bush” among his family and friends, because of his love of nature and the outdoors. Vikunt emigrated to the United States in 2004, and soon had his one and only son, Aditya Chand soon after. He left this world on March 20, 2019, way before we are ready to let him go. Vic will be remembered for his quick wit, wicked smile, loving heart, and kind soul. He is survived by his mother, Lily Chand, son Aditya, sisters Radha Chand, Arti Maharaj, Vishwani Persaud, and Sandhya Prasad, as well as a village full of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. May his soul rest in power.
