She was born in Ozark County, Mo., on Dec. 13, 1924. Violet graduated from Portales High School and received a bachelor's degree from Fort Hays State University. On Aug. 29, 1943, she married William L. "Pat" Patterson, who preceded her in death. Violet taught first grade for 22 years at Abernathy Elementary School. She had a passion for faith, family, teaching and crafts.
Survivors: Daughter, Vivian Kindsfather and husband, Bill, of Arlington; son, Weldon Patterson and wife, Beverly, of Madison, Ala.; grandsons, David Cook and wife, Beverly, of El Cajon, Calif., Nate Cook and wife, Paula, of Midwest City, Okla.; five great-grandchildren, Anna, Kori, Matthew, Nathan and Tyler; brothers, J.W. Lemay and Herbert Lemay; and sisters, Marjorie Hale, Marguerite Curtis and Mora Jane Baldwin.
