Virginia was born on July 21, 1924 in Holtville, CA to Samuel Jackson Renfro and Bessie Z Willeford Renfro. The 3rd of 7 children, "Tootsie" grew up during the great depression. Her family did what ever they could to make a dime to keep going during such hard times. Like so many families, it was common to live on the streets with only a blanket for warmth and security from the elements. Tootsie took good care of her beloved wool blanket throughout all the years and it will remain with her for eternity.
A resident of Arlington since 1954, Tootsie was the owner of Virginia's Beauty Salon. Always giving of herself within her church. First Baptist of Arlington and in the Arlington community. For over 25 years she volunteered her time, her heart and her smile as a Pink Lady at Arlington Memorial Hospital.
In 1966, she married the love of her life, Alvin Thomas Inghram. Alvin had personally experienced the horrors of war. Serving in the Army during WWII, he escaped the Bataan Peninsula only to be captured in the Philippines and taken to a POW camp in Japan.
Their life together was full of contentment until his death on June 29, 2002.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her six siblings.
Tootsie is survived by her nieces, Barbara L'Roy, Linda Long and Teri Oshiro; 6 nieces and nephews, numerous other family and many friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington, TX. Her nephew-in-law, Elmer L'Roy will officiate.
