

She was born May 9, 1924 in Marshall, Texas, but grew up in Waco, Texas. After graduating from Waco High School in 1941, she repaired radios for the Army Air Corps during WWII. While working in San Antonio at Kelly Field, she met George Duval “Duvie” Schroeder, a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps, who she married.
Rue worked for a short time in retail at Macy's in New York City. She traveled the world, including living in Italy and visiting Greece and Germany. While living in Italy, she volunteered as a Gray Lady for the Red Cross.
She loved movies, and was a master seamstress and interior decorator with an immaculate sense of fashion and style. She made the best Lobster Cantonese back when Arlington didn't have any Asian restaurants. While she was still driving, she volunteered to deliver for Meals on Wheels for several years.
She is preceded in death by her father William Snyder, her mother Della Holder, her uncle Fred Holder, her husband of 52 years Maj. George Schroeder (ret. USAF), and her nephew Tony “Cente” Zamora, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters Tristan Schroeder, and Diana Conway and her husband Hiram, her granddaughter Anna Conway and her fiancee Christian McDonald, her sister Donna Zamora and her husband Tony, all of Arlington, and her nieces Lynne Rose and husband Frank of Bonham and Trina Bristol and her husband Jim of Arlington.
Visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 3:00 – 5:00 pm.
Funeral service will be held at Moore Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Moore Memorial Gardens.
