

William C. “Bill” Hargis was born on August 19, 1917 in Achille, Oklahoma to Victor Lynn Hargis and Bessie Ester Cole Hargis. He attended Achille High School, The Murray State School of Agriculture and Southeastern State College. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946 where he fought overseas during WWII and was stationed in both Northern Africa and Italy. He held an executive position in five different states at Southwestern Bell/ AT&T for 35 years. In the early 1980’s Bill retired and moved from St. Louis, Missouri to Fort Worth, Texas to be closer to his family. One of his greatest joys was his marriage to Peggy on September 23, 1947 and celebrated 62 years together upon her death. Bill is proceeded in death by wife, Peggy Ann; Parents, Victor Lynn and Bessie Hargis; Sisters, Loretta Stone, Virginia Scoggin and Peggy Farley. He is survived by his Daughter, Deborah Potter and husband Calvin Potter; Step Grandsons, Dax Potter and Barry Potter; Step Great-Grandson, Gabriel Potter; Brother, B.W. (Ben) Hargis; 10 nieces and nephews. Bill will be remembered by the lives he touched in all whom met him and will be greatly missed. The family will be holding a graveside service at Moore Memorial Gardens Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 11:00am.
