William Dale Mullens Jr. was born May 4, 1924 in Mead, Oklahoma to William Dale Mullens Sr. and Rosetta Robinson Mullens. He joined the CCC at the age of 14 ½ which would have required his parents signature – his sister Rosetta signed instead! William spent his summers putting out fires in Yellowstone National Park. He had fond memories of meeting his first girlfriend there and her teaching him to ice skate. During that summer he had a favorite maroon shirt and ever since then he loved maroon because it brought back good memories.
He joined the United States Army on June 8, 1943 to serve his country during World War II. He was Honorably Discharged on December 11, 1945. William was a proud member of the American Legion and the Free Masons. He had a passion for working in his yard, spending time with friends and family and his pet dogs Bubba, Delhia, and Bob.
Mr. Mullens was preceded in death by two children, six siblings and two wives. Survivors include his children Carole, Beverly, Richard, William III, and Pamela, sister Estalene, 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
