Willie Lee Rush

Willie Lee (Bill) Rush, 93 years old was born November 15, 1928 in Greenville, TX and died July 2, 2022 in Arlington, TX. He lived in Arlington for 31 years after living in Coppell, TX for 42 years. He had four sisters and one brother and was the second child to his parents Edward Rush and Florence Thornton Rush where he was raised in Blue, OK. He met his wife Elsa Faye Smith in Dallas, TX and later married on May 4, 1946 at the age of 17 and had been married 76 years. They had a daughter Barbara Rush James and her husband Benny. Willie had a grandson Tony and his wife Cindy, and a granddaughter Haley. Willie’s two great grandsons are Ethan and Erik.

Willie worked for General Dynamics for over 40 years and loved going to work on the farm in Cade, OK and attending church at Northwest Baptist where he was a member. In retirement years, he enjoyed sitting outside and waving at all the neighbors that passed by on their long dead end street. Many would stop and chat when they had time, there was always an extra chair. He loved to talk and visit with people.

Willie had been in the nursing home since February 8, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Florence Thornton Rush, brother Dwaine Rush and two sisters, Ada Mills & June Vaughn. His survivors include his wife Elsa Faye Rush, daughter Barbara Rush James & her husband Benny. Grandson Tony Leal & his wife Cindy and their 2 sons Ethan and Erik. Granddaughter Haley Leal. Sisters Pat Downing & Shirley Vaughn, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be 10:00am at Moore Funeral Home. 1219 N Davis St, Arlington TX 76012. Burial will follow at adjoining cemetery. Food will be served after burial in the funeral home. Please join us to eat and visit. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
