

Auburn - Arthur "Sam" Frederick Baril Jr., 78, of Auburn, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday January 19, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lewiston, Maine on May 11, 1934, a son of the late Arthur Frederick and Annette (Burton) Baril. He lived his entire life in the Auburn area, attending local schools and graduating from Edward Little High School. He served his country in the US Navy on The USS Keppler in the Korean War. On March 15, 1958, he married the love of his life Dorothy Robinson in New Hampshire. Together they lived and worked in Auburn raising their family of 8 children. He originally worked in the shoe factory business as a shoe stitcher before going to work at Pioneer Plastics as a machinist for 20 years before retiring in 1989. He was also the founder and owner of Mid Maine Computers in the early 80's. He was a CB Radio buff, loved taking numerous pictures of family and friends, building various items with popsicle sticks, camping, but most of all he cherished his family time especially with his beloved 18 grandchildren. He was truly loved and was an inspiration to his family and many friends. Arthur is survived by his wife of 54 plus years, Dorothy, 8 children: Daniel Lavoie and his wife Patricia of Shiloh IL., Thomas Lavoie of Oxford, Mark Lavoie and his wife Jean of Auburn, Diane Dulac and her husband Ralph of Hartford, Ricky Baril and his companion Diane Hesketh of Minot, Timothy Baril and his companion Lisa Lebel of Oxford, Pamela Heikkinen and her husband Robert of Turner, Sharon Chouinard and her companion Douglas Ellison of Minot, his siblings: Connie Bell of Texas, Gary Baril and his wife Helena of Mechanic Falls, Janice Harris and her husband Brian of Winthrop, Dean Baril and his wife Brenda of Florida, Kim Baril and his wife Linda of New Hampshire, 18 Grandchildren and 17 Great- Grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother James Baril.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday at The Fortin Group / Plummer Merrill Funeral Home in Auburn from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at The Funeral Home followed by committal Services at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
