He was surrounded by his loving family. Family was of utmost importance to Bert. Maybe it was because he came from such a big family, maybe it was because his mother died when he was just 2 and his father when he was 11 or maybe it was because he found his greatest joy when he married the love of his life at 20 and together they raised a beautiful family. No matter the reason, Bert will be remembered as a devoted family man. He was also a man of great faith. Bert loved Jesus and it showed in his service to his family and his church. As anyone who spent time with Bert can attest, he was quite the story teller. He could entertain you for hours sharing his life experiences with spunk and flair. He loved to fish, was a gifted woodworker, and could tinker and fix anything.
His work ethic was impeccable. He never earned his diploma because he opted to work so he could contribute to households where he lived with siblings. He worked several years in a local shoe shop before going to Philips Elmet, where he worked until his retirement. He prided himself on the fact that he never took a sick day in 30 years. His memory and legacy will live on in those who knew and dearly loved him.
Bert is predeceased by his parents Gedeon Gagnon and Marie Bizier Gagnon; sisters Sister Marie Elise, Lucienne Albert, Marie Rose Gagnon, Jeannette Pelletier, Yolande Labonte, Bernadette Valliere, Therese Dube and brothers Roland, Raoul, Maurice and Reginald Gagnon.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Gisele L. Vachon Gagnon; daughter Claire Smith and her husband Greg; son Ronald Gagnon; son Roger Gagnon and his wife Lori; grandchildren Bryan Kenney and his wife Katie, Steve Kenney, Hannah Verrill and her husband Matt, Rebecca Andreasen and her husband Matthew, Ben Gagnon and Arthur Gagnon; and 1 great-grandchild Jackson Kenney, as well as many nieces and nephews
