Minot - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Beverly (Joan) Colby Carrigan who died peacefully at home of a heart attack on July 6, 2024. Beverly was born on October 29, 1933 in Lewiston, ME to Herman and Christine (Myrand) Colby. She was the oldest of three daughters. Beverly grew up and was educated in Auburn graduating from Edward Little High School in 1951. She was employed at Montgomery Ward in Lewiston until she married John G. Carrigan on February 16, 1952. They moved to Portland and raised four children together.
Beverly worked for the Portland School Department administrative offices as a payroll specialist until she retired in 1994 after 25 years of service. They lived on the shore of Sebago Lake in Casco from 1980 to 2010 at which time they built a new home in Minot, ME. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Windham, ME. Her hobbies included knitting, attending all her grandchildren’s sports games and annual trips to New York City with her friends. She was known for the Christmas stockings she knit for everyone in her family and many friends.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 72 years, John Gayton Carrigan of Minot, son John Michael Carrigan and wife Michelle of Mammoth Lake, Ca, Sue Ellen Carrigan of Windham, Cheryl Anne Ryan and husband Michael of Raymond, ME, Linda Lynn Chaisson and husband Thomas of West Poland, sister Diane Massey of Auburn, cousins Wanda Kimbrough and Sally Gagnon of Auburn and many 2nd and 3rd cousins. She had 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister Carol Savage of Bradenton, FL and several aunts and uncles.
The family invites you to visitation is at Fortin Group, 217 Turner Street in Auburn, ME on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM followed by a graveside service the next morning, at Gracelawn Memorial Park, Turner St, Auburn at 11 AM.
