Auburn, ME – Beverly R. Preble, 86, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 12, 2018 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Lewiston, Maine on January 31, 1932 to Earle G. (Gerry) Rogers and Ola Harper Rogers.
The wife of John Rendall Preble, they traveled the globe together for nearly 50 years, but most enjoyed the time spent camping with family and friends in the wilds of Maine. Over the years Beverly was very active in civic affairs as a member of the Woman’s Literary Union, the Woman’s Hospital Association, the Auburn Art Club and the Kora Widow’s Club. Together with her daughter Jane, she operated “The Little Red House” on Court Street in Auburn for many years. In her limited spare time, she expressed her creativity by designing and sewing dozens of outfits for herself and her two daughters, crafting with friends, expanding her extensive flower gardens and decorating her home for every imaginable occasion.
Undoubtedly the focus of her life and her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her sister Geraldine Callahan of Lewiston; a son, Frank R. Preble and his partner Carol Rowell-Johnson of Vero Beach, FL; daughter Jane Lidstone and her husband David of Auburn; daughter Nancy Preble of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Sarah Lidstone of Nashville, TN, Elizabeth Woodcock and her husband Seth of Windham, Abigail Briglio and her husband Antonio of Lisbon, Jacob Preble of Denver, CO and Eliza Cutter and her husband Alex of Turner; five great grandchildren, Lily, Alexis and John Woodcock, Olivia Briglio and Landry LaMontagne and many adored nieces and nephews. Beverly was predeceased by her parents and her husband John.
The family would like to thank Dr. William Lee for decades of exceptional, loving care and Androscoggin Home Healthcare & Hospice, especially Michelle Hawkins, for their compassion and tenderness.
