She was born in Portland, Maine on August 14, 2002 the daughter of Stephen and Kristin (Roy) Murch.
Cara was born with a very rare brain disorder, holoprosencephaly. She had her struggles all her life, but the joy she brought to everyone around her was immeasurable.
Cara attended school throughout her life with the assistance of the Turner School System. She officially graduated in 2022. The school system provided her with everything she needed to ensure she got to experience all that she could while being well cared for all the time. Our family will be eternally grateful.
While Cara could not speak words, she communicated with her facial expressions and smiles. It was easy to tell what brought her joy. Her father and grandfather built her a swing outside so we could take her out while in her wheelchair, and she could enjoy the day outside. She loved it. She enjoyed music, but her absolute favorite artist was John Denver. We could tell because anytime his music or videos came on, she reacted with big eyes and smiles. She also loved being serenaded by her grandfather playing guitar right by her bedside.
She really enjoyed being around her family too. Anytime a family gathering took place, she would sit with us, and she had a calmness that came over her, like she knew she was surrounded by love. She had a very special connection with her sister; no matter what was happening, Kassie would walk into the room to talk with her, and Cara got the biggest smile on her face. It was obvious to anyone that the bond they shared was a special one.
With Cara’s various medical needs, she had a variety of nurses through the years that took care of her like she was their own. With nurses being in our home sharing in her life with us, they naturally became our family members. We extend a heartfelt thank you; the comfort you brought Cara and the rest of our family cannot be measured.
Cara was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Rodney Roy, and her maternal step grandfather, Gerald Miller.
Cara is survived by her parents, Stephen and Kristin (Roy) Murch, her sister, Kassie Murch. Her grandparents, Robert and Doris Murch and Shirley Miller. Uncles and Aunts, Jeff and Mirelli Murch; Mark and Karla DeAngelis and Kenneth Roy. Her cousins, Thomas and Sophia Murch. There are many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will dearly miss her.
