

Auburn-Clarence O. "Pop" Holbrook 81, of Skillings Corner Rd, Auburn died Sunday April 13 at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice. He was born in Auburn on July 24, 1932 the son of the late Oakland and Florence (Hustis) Holbrook. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School class of 1952. He then went on to proudly served his country in the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He married the love of his life Judith "Judy" Fuller on June 23, 1962. Together they settled in Auburn to raise their family. Clarence worked for Auburn Last Shoe CO, Jones & Vining, Agway and Reid's Small Engine Repair. He loved to spend time on his boat fishing, whether it be Mackeral fishing at Bailey's Island, up at Moosehead or on nearby Lake Auburn. He also went on a couple winter camping trips on the Allagash in his younger years. He also enjoyed tinkering on small engines and working on gas engines with his good friend Dick Vye, with whom he went to many engine shows. He took great pride in his lawn and spent many hours tending to it. Most times when he was at home relaxing you would find his cat Buckwheat on his lap. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Judy Holbrook of Auburn, a daughter Rebecca Hicks and her husband Michael of West Blocton AL, a son Alan Holbrook and his wife Robin Rockett of Turner, three grandchildren, whom he was very proud of, Nickolaus and Jacob Vickerson of Tuscaloosa, AL and Cassidy Holbrook of Auburn. The family would like to send a very special thank you to the entire staff at The Hospice House for the wonderful care given to Clarence in his last days.
