David was born in Lewiston, Maine, to Gabrielle and Francis Violette.
David was a carpenter all his life. He was very talented—he could do framing, roofing, siding, windows, doors and all manner of repairs. He loved working with his hands and was often the first person to offer help when a neighbor, friend, or family member needed something built or repaired. He loved working outdoors.
David was a member of American Legion Post 153. He enjoyed listening to the guitarist, Jerry Carrier, who plays there every other Friday, and they developed a friendship that David regarded fondly. David was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
David had great hand-eye coordination, so whether it was darts, arrows, or axes, he was a great competitor. In later years, he also began collecting rocks, fascinated by finding that special gem everyone else overlooked. For several years he was a member of the Maine Mineralogical & Geological Society, going out digging at various locations. He also liked to polish rocks and even made some of his best pieces into jewelry.
David was much loved and respected by all of his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Kristina (Lalemand) Violette; his sisters, Susan Palange, Gail Coolidge and her husband, Charles (Chuck) Coolidge; his brother, Gary Violette and his wife, Barbara (Barbie) Violette; his grandchildren, Brak Cox and his wife, Kim Frost, Madilyn (Maddie) Violette-Redman, and Dakoda (Kody) Redman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
David was predeceased by his parents, Gabrielle (Dionne) and Francis Violette; both daughters, Amanda (Violette) McKnight and Danielle (Violette) Redman; his brothers, Daniel Violette and Steven Violette; his sister, Sandra (Violette) Gammond; his brother-in-law, Andrew Palange; and his nephew, Curtis Small.
