Derek was born a multi-talented self-taught musician whose abilities to master any instrument was never short of a prodigy, though he loved all forms of expression his favorite of all was drums. This in which he shined the most in Derek's capabilities in music was far greater than words can express. Derek was a singer and songwriter, a true artist of every form from music to art itself Derek's expressionism was something to behold and beyond this material world.
He taught these expressions to many and was a sound technician for the community little theater for many years his abilities in music engineering was something truly out of this world. Though Derek had these gifts, he always carried them with humility and grace, willing to share it every step of the way.
Derek's knowledge and wisdom didn't end with just music, art and writing - he was an animal lover, herbalist, gardener, artist with all medias, computer tech genius, electrical master and truly to list it all is quite impossible to achieve. He was beyond his years and studied many fields and his hunger to understand more was never quenched for Derek always had a yearning to understand how all things work, move and exist.
One of Derek's greatest wisdom was his faith in God. Derek just had a way of understanding the world beyond this one, and he knew the truths behind the veils of this reality his faith and strength is truly unmatched and he wished all would see the light.
Derek was always there for the homeless and the in need his love for all was beyond measure, teaching his own family the art of compassion and willingness to relate. Though Derek seemed a quiet soul his very nature spoke volumes to those who knew him and would moved all to follow and listen, Derek truly walked to the beat of his own drum.
He expressed true strength through many battles over the years that we know many could not withstand that most could never truly have the strength and heart like he did. That through his hardest times his thoughts were not of himself but others all along the many years of his life.
Derek attended the church of the leader Nazarene of the most faith most of his life either in person or online and was attending seminary classes to learn how to become a leader of the faith. Though his time was cut short we know that Derek's ability to love and save will echo ripples through the ages for all who knew him, for Derek's star shines the brightest in the heavens and shows the truth that is love for all, and not one soul left out.
He will always be missed but never forgotten for who could forget such an amazing love and an amazing soul? We may lose a piece of our heart the heavens gain the brightest soul among the many stars.
May we always remember love like this.
