DIANE M OUELLETTE
July 22, 1919 – January 27, 2021
Diane Marie Ouellette, 101 of Auburn died Wednesday, January 27 at her home with her nieces by her side. She was born at home in Van Buren Maine on July 22, 1919, the sixth child to Thomas and Gertrude (Gagnon) Ouellette and was the last surviving of seventeen children. As a young woman she left Maine with her sister Gerry to work in Connecticut, where she would reside for 40 years. Diane, along with her sister Gerry helped care for their special needs brother, helping him become an independent man. Upon retirement, after working 30 years in accounting at Connecticut General she returned to Maine to live with her sister, Adelaide. They shared many good years together. She was a great family historian willingly sharing many stories of her childhood years living in Northern Maine. One in particular, was working in her family bakery making bread which helped them weather through the Great Depression. She also enjoyed sharing about the many changes she had seen throughout her long life. The times she enjoyed the most in life was being with family and friends at her sister Connie’s home, playing cards, sitting by the pool, and celebrating many holidays and occasions. She also looked forward to vacations at the Seashore and visiting her sister Gerry in Florida. Her wish to visit her hometown of VanBuren one last time was fulfilled at the age of 97 with her nieces. In her youthful years she had a passion for horseback riding. She and her friends enjoyed many long rides throughout the beautiful Maine Countryside. Diane’s strong faith in God guided her throughout life’s journey. She often said, “God has blessed me with good health, and a long life; “I give thanks to God.” Her motto was, “forgive, life is too short to hold grudges.” Diane was a faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Auburn. Survivors include her brother-in-law Blaine Brooks and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters; Nora Roy, Rita Conley, Constance Currie, Germaine Ouellette, Adelaide Castonguay, Theresa Brooks, Marcella Ouellette, Gertrude Matthews, and brothers; Armand, Leo, Bertrand, Elmer, Lorn and Paul Ouellette. Because of her belief in respect for life, those who wish can donate in her memory to: Maine Right to Life 4 Washington St. Auburn, ME. 04210 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Phillips Parish on Saturday, February 6 at 11: 00a.m.

DIANE M OUELLETTE
February 9, 2021
My deepest sympathy over the loss of Diane-the last sibbling from a large family. Most families from "the County" as our ancestors would name it, knew the value of Life.
I knew Diane through her sister Adelaid, Connie and Gertrude. My mom loved her times with them. Great sense of humor.
Diane certainly lived a long life and I'm sure she appreciated her nieces by her side.
May God send his Grace's upon all during your grief.
