

Dorothy J. Brackett, 83, of Auburn, Maine, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, at Central Maine Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones, after courageously battling multiple medical conditions most of her life. She was born on February 16, 1943, to the late Vivian and John Ring.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Brackett of New Gloucester. She was also preceded in death by her son, Hugh Leighton Jr ; her best friend and brother Frank “Manny” Ring, her first love, Hugh Leighton Sr.; and her mother, Vivian Sally.
Dorothy was a spirited firecracker and truly a force to be reckoned with. She faced life’s challenges with remarkable strength, determination, and resilience, never giving up no matter what she was facing. She was a fighter until the very end, overcoming countless obstacles with courage and grace.
Her greatest joy was her beloved little dog, Manny, who brought endless love and companionship into her life. Dorothy spent her life working as a cook, a profession she genuinely loved. She had an incredible gift for taking the simplest, most unexpected ingredients and creating delicious meals. She treasured time spent with her family, shopping , crossword books, watching her soapies everyday, she LOVED when it was Thursday because that means Bingo, and had a personality that could light up a room. She was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Carol Goyette and her husband, David, of New Gloucester; her daughter, Tracy “Acy” Leighton of Auburn; her daughter, Leanne “Chubby Cheeks” Brackett and her fiancé, Ron Lachapelle of Auburn ; her son, Travis “Travie”Brackett and his fiancée, Desiree McAllister, of Lewiston; her granddaughter, “My cece Ciara Kubicek who she shared a special bond with and her Husband Shane as well as their 3 children Oaklyn,Ellieanna and Zariah. Her grandchildren Mia,Gina,Devin, Nelson, PJ, Misti, Dorothy , Daisy, Amanda, Haley, Heather Nick, Abel, Ares and Marley. As well as many , great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional nursing staff at Central Maine Medical Center. A special thank you goes to Dr. Gifford, Kylie, and Shane, whose compassion, kindness, and outstanding care meant so much to Dorothy and her family during her final days. Her Family would also like to thank her Andwell nurse Ashley for her kind heart and comforting hands. Dorothy also always wanted to express her sincere appreciation to her primary care physician, Dr. Raby, and his nurse, Karen, for the excellent care and support they provided throughout the years.
Dorothy’s strength, wit, fierce spirit, and unwavering love for her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will continue to live on through the love of her family and every story that brings a smile to our faces. She will be deeply loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
