LEWISTON: Dorothy June (Elwell) Wallingford of Perkins Ridge Road, Auburn, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 4, 2017, at the age of 95, surrounded by her dear family. A loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Dot was born on July 12, 1922 to her parents, Thomas and Gladys (Pittman) Elwell, at her grandparents’ home at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Auburn, Maine, where her grandfather was the caretaker. She attended school at Perkins Ridge School, Webster School, and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1941. She also attended Auburn Maine School of Commerce. Dot married Ivan Wallingford on November 27, 1942 at her parents’ home in Auburn. They lived their entire lives in Auburn where they owned Wallingford Equipment Company along with Wallingford’s Fruit House. Dot enjoyed sewing, cooking, motorcycling, dancing and especially precious time with her grandchildren.
Dot is survived by her children, Ronald and his wife Sandy of Auburn, Bruce and his wife Nancy Jones of Seabrook Island, SC; Mark and his wife Joanna of Auburn; Jim and his wife Louise of Minot; and Nancy and her husband Jim Parolin of Amherst, NH. She will be dearly missed by her 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and her 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Arlene Davis and her husband Don, Mary Goss, and Helen Clifford and sister-in-law, Mary Elwell. She was predeceased by her husband, Ivan; her parents, Thomas and Gladys Elwell; her brother, Richard Elwell and her brothers-in-law Frank Goss and Charlie Clifford. isiting hours will be held at Fortin\Auburn on Friday December 8, 2017 from 5-8pm. A funeral service will take place on Saturday December 9, 2017 at 11am at the West Auburn Congregational Church in Auburn. Interment will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery at a later date.
