

Auburn-Edmund N. Richard 82, of Stafford Ave. Rumford, formally of Auburn, died peacefully with his loving family by his side at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice on Wednesday September 24, 2014. He was born in Newry, Maine on June 10, 1932 a son of the late Wilfred and Ida (Lemay) Richard. He proudly served his country in the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Edmund married his true love, the former Jeannette Belanger on 12/5/1964. They settled in Auburn in 1965 and lived here until 1998. They most recently lived in Rumford. He was a salesman for many years in the food industry. Ed was a performing musician, singing and playing guitar to country songs of the 50's, 60's and 70's. He led his own band with his wife, The Moonlighters for over 15 years. He was a friend to so many, larger than life, and had a smile for everyone he met. He loved lobster dinners, painting, puttering around the house and scratch tickets. He also fished many a brook in his younger years. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Jeannette Richard of Rumford, his children: Darcy Bourgault and her husband Rick of Gorham, ME, Daphne Richard of South Amboy, NJ, and Darin Richard and his wife Chrissy of Vero Beach, FL, along with his grandchildren: Chelsea, Mack, Adam, Brandon, Grace, Olivia, Annabelle, and Jake. He was a brother to Al, Irene, Susie, and Don, and also leaves many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by siblings Omer, Belle, Maurice, Leonard and Blondie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday September 29, at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn. Committal will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park. A luncheon will be held at The American Legion Hall 426 Washington Ave in Auburn following the Committal.
