

AUBURN- Elizabeth M. Yeaton, 87 of Auburn died Sunday, Oct. 12 at her daughter’s home following a period of declining health. She was born in Lewiston, Dec. 17, 1926 daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Chippendale Yeaton. She was educated in Auburn schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1944. She then graduated from Gorham State Teacher's College and attained her masters degree from the University of Maine. Betty taught elementary school at Stevens Mill and Fairview schools for 38 years. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at Sacred Heart Church. She spent many enjoyable summers at her cottage on Bailey Island. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed knitting many items for family members. She felt fortunate to be able to travel with her family to Hungary, Prague, England and Ireland. Her happiest moments were spending time with her family, especially birthdays and holidays. She is survived by a daughter, Ann Verrill and husband Thomas of Auburn; four grand-daughters, Amy (Todd) Spencer, Mary (Matthew) Poulin, Betsy (Richard) Bullock, and Jane Verrill, also six great grandchildren, Stella and Jack Spencer, Ben, Emily and Andrew Poulin and Lena Bullock. Visitation at Fortin/Auburn, Friday from 4 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church. Committal to follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
