

Elmer C. (Bud) Goding, 92, of Auburn, beloved husband of Jean (Sudds) Goding, passed away peacefully early Monday morning at the Androscoggin Hospice House, He was born in Auburn, on March 13, 1922, the son of the late James and Vesta (Dunlap) Goding. He was educated in Auburn schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1940. In 1944, Bud and Elizabeth Blackmore were married. They celebrated 33 years of marriage before her death in 1977. He later married Jean S. Groves in 1980. He was employed by Morin Brick Company and Hammond Equipment as a mechanic for many years. During World War II he was not drafted into the service because the country needed him to farm and raise crops for the Army. He was a member of the Civil Air Petrol at this time. He was a faithful member of the Court Street Baptist Church of Auburn. Bud was a kind and gentle man who was blessed with a giving and loving spirit. The bounty of his vegetable and raspberry gardens were always shared with friends and family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jean, and her children, Jonathan Groves of Auburn and Susan (Woods) Abbott of Wilmington, Mass, his son Paul (Sharon) Goding of Auburn, and a daughter Betty Dolloff and her partner Mike Caron of Turner. Survivors also include his grandchildren, David Goding, Denise (Robert) Purrington, Cheryl (Jarrod) Milton, Kayla Hinkley and her fiance, Aaron Manifold, Cameron (Erin) Hinkley, Katie, Jake, and Nora Groves, Brittany and Matthew Abbott and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Madeline Beaucage of Portsmouth, R.I. and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother J. Garfield Goding, and sisters Vera Pickle, Mary Kyes, Evelyn Wyman, and Flora Bragdon. Jean would like to thank the visiting hospice nurses without whom she could not have kept Bud at home and the staff of the Androscoggin Hospice House, especially Esther and Bambi who cared devotedly for Bud during his final hours. Visitation will be held Friday Dec. 5 from 1-2 PM in the vestry at the Court Street Baptist Church in Auburn. The Funeral Services will follow at 2 PM. Committal will be held on Saturday Dec. 6 at 9 AM at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
