He was born in Lewiston, ME a son of Denis A. Grover of Poland and the late Cecile N. (Reynolds) Grover. He grew up in Auburn, attending local area schools.
George held several jobs, locally, in the maintenance field. He enjoyed going antiquing and in his younger days collected baseball and football cards. He also loved watching the horse races in both Lewiston and Scarborough, making the occasional bet.
Besides his wife and his father, he is survived by his daughter Tiffany Lynn Cheney of Auburn. He also leaves his brother Scott Merrill of Poland as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Rebecca Grover, who passed away in July 1991.
