Georgia was a trailblazer in real estate, civic leadership, and community service, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, compassion, and pioneering spirit that touched countless lives across Maine.
Born in Lewiston, ME and raised Auburn ME, Georgia graduated from Edward Little High School in 1962 and continued her education at Chandler School for Women in Boston, earning her degree in 1964. Her professional career began in real estate, where she quickly distinguished herself as a leader and innovator. She earned multiple designations, including GRI, CRS, and ePro, and founded Paris Hill Realty in 1974. Her career flourished with Century 21 Guilmette and later with RE/MAX of New England, which she opened in 1997. She finished out her career in 2020 with BHG The Masiello Group, retiring after 40 years.
Georgia’s influence extended far beyond sales. She served as President of the Androscoggin Valley Board of Realtors in both 1983 and 2008, and as Vice President in 2005. Her commitment to the profession was evident in her leadership roles with RPAC, MAR PAC, and numerous committees, including Grievance, Professional Standards, and Affordable Housing. She was honored as Realtor of the Year in 2006 and received the Outstanding Sales Achievement Award from BHGRE, The Masiello Group in 2013.
A passionate advocate for civic engagement, Georgia broke barriers in 1980 as the first woman elected to the Auburn City Council. She served as LA Railroad Director and the mayor’s representative to the Sewage District Board of Trustees. Her public service included roles on the Auburn Board of Assessment Review, the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council, and the L/A Area Chamber of Commerce. Georgia was deeply involved in politics, serving on the Androscoggin County Republican Committee, as Treasurer for Snowe for Senate, and as a delegate to the State Convention. She held leadership roles in the Auburn Republican City Committee and the Maine Republican Party and chaired numerous Lincoln Day Dinners.
Her commitment to healthcare and education was reflected in her service as a Corporator for Central Maine Medical Center and the Auburn Public Library, and as a Director and Chair of the Charity Ball for the Women’s Hospital Association.
Georgia’s faith and heritage were central to her life. A devoted member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lewiston, she held numerous leadership roles in the Daughters of Penelope and the Philoptochos Ladies Society, including President, Treasurer, and Chairperson. She was honored with the Penelope of the Year award in 1977 and the Metropolis of Boston Ministry Award in 2008. She helped revive the Greek Festival in 2003, and she chaired the Festival Program Committee for several years.
