Gladys Chapman was always so warm and welcoming every time we came into town for family get together. She was as sweet as her pineapple upside down cake. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Chapman family as she was one of a kind.

I am so sorry for your loss. Gladys was a wonderful person with such a terrific sense of humor, very kind and always doing things for others. I enjoyed working with her at the Middle School and we shared many laughs together. She made everyone happy and it was fun to be around her. She was very special.

Gladys and I go back to my third grade classroom at Chamberlain School,  she visited because her mother was my wonderful  teacher. Eventually Gladys and I were proud members of the ELHS Class of 1960. Every five years Gladys helped plan reunions, whether at meetings or locating missing classmates. Everyone will remember her cupcakes at our 50th reunion! Don't forget the church bean suppers!!! Gladys was a gem and I was lucky to have her as a friend and classmate.

There are no words to express the depth of my appreciation, admiration, gratitude and love for my devoted friend Gladys Chapman.
  She has always been a very special part of my life as a colleague, choir member, GS Women’s Camp Chef, therapist and loyal friend. I am grateful  for having her part of my life.
  Through good times and hard times, she was always there for support. One of the best gifts of all is that she could make me laugh to the point of losing control of myself.
  Her talents and gifts have been many and she will always have a very special place in my heart.
  I am grateful that your pains is behind you now and you have entered your new life.

To Mr. Chapman & Family,
 My Condolences to you all for such a beautiful sweet soul Mrs. Chapman was.
 I am now well into my 60's, however I have thought often about her and wondered how she was.
 As you see, Mrs Chapman was my 3rd grade teacher at Fairview and was among one of my favorites throughout my education in the Auburn School System.
 I can still see her face and hear her laugh. One of my favorite memories when our classroom pet mouse had babies and she said the first 3 students who bring in a permission slip signed by their parents and the parent comes in with a cage, they can adopt one of the babies. I went straight home and begged my parents to please let me adopt one. My mom was not too sure. However, the following day as the last bell was about to ring, I was called to go to the front office and standing there with a little mouse cage and all of its needs, was my mom! I was soooo excited ! I was not getting any mouse, I was getting one of Mrs Chapman's mice.  My Minnie, was so intelligent and so loved , she even won my mom over! LOL. Thank you Mrs Chapman for your kindness, your laughter, patience and making learning so much fun. . I have never forgotten you and never will.

Mrs.Chapman was my second mom growing up through high school. She always made everyone in the  room smile and her sense of humor was grand. I remember card games at the house and church festivities. She touched a lot of hearts and I know you will be at peace. She was a wonderful mother, teacher, and person, and friend to many. I will miss you💜

Was so, so saddened to hear of Glady's passing...condolences to Maynard and family! Had the pleasure of meeting Gladys and Maynard over 60+years ago. Oh what stories we shared... Maynard introduced my ex and I to a couple from the county that he knew way back, Saturday bean suppers next a auction  in Danville, the grange, fondue gatherings, game nights, block parties at 387 Court St w/the 2 of them and Barbara. Later we had 2 boys that went to Fairview Gladys taught our youngest in the 4th grade!! So, so many TREASURED MEMORIES though our 60+years!! Always a joy and pleasure to run into them in L/A WONDERFUL couple. Unfortunately I'll be away next weekend but my thoughts to ALL.

We are sorry to hear of her passing. Although it's been many years since , we have fond memories of her, both as a colleague and as part of the furniture store she and Maynard ran. She was generous and always smiling.  She is sure to be missed by many.

   We are so saddened by your loss.    Gladys was  such a dear friend and always such a pleasure to be around.   Her quick wit and  laughter will always be remembered.  We will miss our days of playing cards and meeting out for breakfast so often.  The memories of playing cards and listening to oldies music, and how Gladys knew every word to almost every song! Sincere sympathy and condolences to  Gladys Family and friends. May you find comfort in fond memories of Gladys. She would always have a big smile and include friendly banter whenever we would meet. I enjoyed being in educational meetings with Gladys over the years. Student’s welfare and learning progress were always forefront for her and she was always willing to share her many tricks to boost student learning.

May your “Gladys memories”  smile upon you, and warm your hearts, as they just did for me… Saturday night staff volley ball games at the Fairview gym, Christmas caroling every year, barbecues at Edith’s,  cooking and sharing recipes, church choir, church fair, church suppers, AND… so many of my children’s birthday cakes! I know, don’t pay you for the specially designed cake; just buy the special pan and let you keep it! DEAL!

You will be extremely missed. By family, friends and the community, when you got laughing it was so contagious, I will forever remember all the memories I have had growing up in the trailer park, and going to visit the apartment In Lewiston, You and baba babysitting me and Alex, going to church to just run around and play. Going to Sunday school, so many memories I will hold with me my whole life, I remember the day you first met Hunter, your eyes lit right up and it was pure love and happiness, and I’m SO thankful you are apart of his life and mine.

Dear Maynard and family,
Our family expresses our deepest condolences in the loss of Gladys. At the same time we celebrate her vibrant  life . 
I appreciate the fact that Gladys and I first met each other in the High Street Methodist Church. We were in the same grade in school growing up in Auburn. Our fathers were great friends and were in the same mens group at church. Our daughterKate was in the Cherub choir at the Park Ave Methodist Church with her sister as the choir directer. My sister Judy was a very good friend and they had many connections in the church including the choir. Judy described Gladys as a "gem" and as someone who contributed so very much to the church community
Gladys leaves a wonderful legacy in countless ways!

I worked with Gladys at AMS and loved every minute of it. She loved her students and the people she worked with. Then I was fortunate to be her neighbor on Summer Street. It wasn’t until I read her obituary that I realized her mother was my third grade teacher at Chamberlain School.  I can still hear her laughter. She will be missed by so many. Condolences to her family and friends.

I worked with Gladys for 11 years at Auburn Middle . I taught on Team One with her for three years and was her sidekick on  student council for at least 5 years. Gladys was the most wonderful woman to work with. Her guidance , inspiration and humor made those years truly memorable. We had many, many laughs together. I will truly miss her.

Dear Maynard, It’s hard to believe that Gladys’s high spirits and laughter are gone. She was such a strong, vital presence in the life of the church and community. It was a gift to know her.
